We partner with schools, districts, and states to support the implementation of our personalized, competency-based math solution, Teach to One Roadmaps, while also advocating for shifts across the K-12 landscape to create the conditions for more student-centered learning.ABOUT THE ROLENew Classrooms is seeking a skilled writer to serve as our Grants Manager. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Grants Manager will be responsible for writing and submitting grant proposals, renewals, reports, and other content to support the achievement of the Development team’s fundraising goals. This role will ensure the proper management of New Classrooms’ grants, including tracking key deadlines, facilitating strategic donor communications, and collaborating with Finance and Program staff as necessary. In addition to managing grants, this role will support the Development team in cultivating new and existing donor relationships. Finally, the Grants Manager will also serve as project manager for key initiatives supporting all facets of the Development team’s efforts, including certain fundraising events. New Classrooms is supported through funding by the Gates Foundation and the Bezos Family Foundation, among other leading foundations at the national, local, and federal level. This is a fantastic position for someone who wants to be part of an organization that is changing K-12 education and to build relationships with high-caliber philanthropic partners within a collaborative and fast-paced organization.WHAT THIS ROLE DOESGrant Writing and ManagementCollaborate with the Vice President of Development and across other departments to refine proposal ideas and project budgetsPrepare and submit high-quality grant proposals and reports, including compiling requested attachments, and proofreading content.Draft letters of inquiry and other materials for donor cultivation.Track the execution of all grant-related milestones, coordinating with various departments to ensure milestones are metManage reporting process for current grants, including tracking deadlines, writing narrative reports, working with members of the Program team to report on project activities, and coordinating with the Finance team to track grant expenditures.Prospect Identification and CultivationIdentify funding opportunities and institutional prospects at the national, local, and federal level, create succinct research summaries, and communicate your findings to the team.Track current and prospective funder touch points and develop and execute cultivation strategies to move these opportunities forward, including drafting strategic donor communications for a variety of audiencesKeep track of the giving strategy for major institutions and continually assess for strategic alignment Donor CommunicationsCollaborate with the Vice President to prepare for and attend donor-facing meetings for current and prospective donors as neededSupport the Vice President in managing the portfolio of current foundation support, especially in communications with grant officersTeam Operations and Project ManagementManage gift processing, including entering information into Salesforce and facilitating timely donor acknowledgement.Support the Development team’s use of Salesforce, ensuring data is up-to-date and accurate, producing reportings, and helping to manage CEO’s funder relationships in the database.Compile organizational information to share with the Board of Directors on a quarterly basisWork with the Development team to plan and execute national and local events (open houses, strategy sessions, funder breakfasts, learning symposiums, etc.)Partner on special projects with the Development team and CEOKEY COMPETENCIES OF THE ROLEOperates Effectively - this role handles a multitude of varying responsibilities simultaneously, and must be organized, able to plan work, schedule their time, to drive toward successful completion of all commitments and deadlinesOral & Written Communication - clear, effective communication is critical to the success of this role whether writing grant materials, communicating regularly with all stakeholders (colleagues, donors, board members, etc.), or preparing materials to support the department (slide decks, research briefs, etc)Information Sharing - as a key driver of fundraising activities, ensuring effective and timely information distribution is criticalEmotional Intelligence - working in the fundraising space involves a lot of interaction with others; being able to put others at ease, to be friendly, sensitive and warm is important to being effective in this rolePersistence / Tenacity - to meet the ambitious goals of this team requires persistence, especially when going for large and complicated grantsFlexibility - our organization’s work is cutting edge, and requires constantly adapting to changing environment and circumstances; this role must be able and willing to change focus and direction smoothly and effectivelyWHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORYou embody our core values: Prioritize People, Initiate and Innovate, Lifelong Learning, Creative Collaboration, Purposeful Partnerships and Considered Confidence.4+ years of professional experience in grants and proposal writing preferred. Candidates without a fundraising/development background but with extensive writing experience will be consideredBA degree preferred Exceptional writing skills and high degree of intellectual curiositySignificant experience with project managementDemonstrated passion for/commitment to education and fundraisingExperience with Salesforce or other donor management software preferredExperience securing funding from national or local foundations is a plusExperience with federal grants is a plusComfort working with numbers, and interpreting budgets and data analysis preferredA strong work ethic, supported by commitment and excellent follow up and follow throughWillingness to “pitch in” and work as a team player on a spectrum of activities from supporting initiatives administratively to contributing to and executing strategyROLE CLASSIFICATION AND BENEFITSThis role is remote, full-time, and includes benefits such as rich medical, dental, and vision insurance, 41 paid days off per year (prorated for the period in which you work), paid parental leave, a professional development budget and a quarterly cell phone subsidy.The hiring salary range for this role is $63,000 - $68,000 and will be commensurate with experience. We have a hiring salary range of $70,000 - $75,000 for specific higher cost of labor locations, which include New York City, Washington DC, Boston, San Francisco/Oakland, Los Angeles, Seattle and their metro areas.New Classrooms is a fully remote organization.
