The Platform Elements team builds platform products to enable Xero development teams to build and ship software in a fast, reliable and secure manner. Platform Elements leverages modern cloud computing tooling and continuous integration practices. Through our customer-centric approach we aim to reduce the cognitive load for Xero Product teams.As a Network Engineer specialising in AWS, Azure and/or GCP infrastructure, you will design, develop, and maintain network solutions and critical infrastructure patterns leveraging cloud-based technologies. Your expertise in AWS services, Terraform, Gateways, Connectivity, DNS management, WAF (Web Application Firewall), and CI/CD practices will be instrumental in designing and optimising our network infrastructure for scalability, performance, and security. Experience working with multiple clouds is highly desirable. As a Network Engineer, you will: Collaborate on the design and implementation of AWS-based network infrastructure, including Transit Gateway and Private link and new and evolving network technologies like CloudWANDevelop Terraform modules, templates and providers to automate the provisioning and configuration of AWS and related resources, ensuring consistency and repeatability across environmentsConfigure and manage AWS gateways (e.g., VPN, Direct Connect) to establish secure and reliable connections between on-premises and cloud environments.Manage DNS services and records to ensure efficient name resolution and traffic routing.Create and maintain capabilities and practices around understanding connectivity @ Xero to help our developers quickly understand connectivity issues and patterns to create solutions customers loveMonitor and analyse network performance metrics using AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus, or similar tools. Identify bottlenecks and optimise network configurations to improve throughput, latency, and reliabilityIntegrate network infrastructure provisioning and configuration processes into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Atlantis, Github Actions or AWS CodePipeline.Automate testing, deployment, and rollback procedures to streamline the release processCreate rich experiences to allow developers to easily drive changes in our network infrastructure with safety and security build in What you will bring with you Proficiency in AWS services, including VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, and Route 53Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormationKnowledge of DNS management, including domain registration, DNSSEC, and DNS routing policiesUnderstanding of CI/CD principles and experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Github Actions, or AWS CodePipelineProficiency in programming languages such as Python, Bash, Golang or Javascipt Proven ability to work collaboratively in agile environments, contributing to team success and fostering a culture of continuous improvement Additional Information Why Xero?Offering very generous paid leave to use however you’d like (plus statutory holidays!), dedicated paid leave to care for your physical and mental wellbeing as well as an Employee Assistance Program to access mental health care for you and your family.
