Job description: Assistant Faculty are an essential part of creating the optimal learning environment. The University relies on assistant faculty to support instructional faculty by interacting with students in online classrooms that have many students. The successful Assistant Faculty is student focused and able to create and implement various methods of communication and supplemental instruction to support student success. This position works a defined number of hours per week and reports into key Faculty roles within the designated team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Analyze student activity within discussions and assessments and choose the appropriate responses
Assist in managing student communications through live session presentations, assistant faculty lead weekly study groups, and 1:1 sessions. (All live sessions being on camera is required)
Utilize online learning management systems platforms to communicate with students through accurate discussion responses and grading
Escalate unique issues to the lead instructor
Monitor engagement levels and provide recommendations on the best approach on how to increase engagement
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within our team and organization ensuring that information flows seamlessly among team members.
Foster a positive working environment, and keeping everyone informed and engaged will be crucial to the success of our projects and team goals.
Optimize productivity and efficiency by implementing effective time management strategies
Adhere to university policies and procedures
Must be flexible and available to work up to 28 hours per week
Other duties as assigned

Work Experience:
Professional experience in the field of study is preferred and may be required dependent on course credentialing requirements.
Previous teaching experience.
Online teaching experience preferred.
Education:
From a regionally accredited institution; Master's degree required. A terminal degree may be required dependent on course credentialing requirements.
Certificates, licenses and registrations:
Professional certification in discipline specialty (if required dependent on course credentialing requirements).
Other:
Access information using a computer.
Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
Effectively cope with stressful situations.
Good attendance.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong mental acuity.
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Computer and technical equipment is not provided by the organization and is the responsibility of the hired employee.
Broadband (Cable or DSL) required with minimum internet connections of 512kbps
Windows 11, Windows 10, Mac OS Monterey (12), Mac OS Big Sur (11), or Mac OS Catalina (10.15)
Minimum of 3GHz processor, Minimum of 8GB of memory (RAM), and Minimum 30GB of free hard disk space
Video Card and monitor display capable of 1280x1024 pixel resolution
Headset with microphone
Working webcam for live sessions, meetings, and student interactions

Work Location Details:
Many of our positions, including this role, are designed to be remote "home office" settings.
Employees working out of a home office are responsible for providing appropriate and safe office space, office furniture and organization, communication tools, and related items. These include:
Arranging for high-speed internet connection, printer and a dedicated phone line for business use. Specifics regarding expense coverage and reimbursement vary based on individual position categories. The University will not provide office equipment or on-site set up assistance.
