Movie/TV News Writer - Weekend/Evenings
Do you love geeky movies and TV? Have a passion for writing? Available week nights and/or weekends? Want to reach millions of readers every month? We are looking for strong writers to join our news team. This is a fully remote freelance position that allows for flexible scheduling and opportunities in development and professional advancement.
You Will:
Ā Compose engaging news articles - with a focus on informing readers why the news matters - not just what happened.
Ā Work with editors to develop a unique angle or insight that will help our article stand out from the crowd.
Ā Produce clean copy that is easy to edit, enjoyable to read, and free of typos.
Ā Develop extensive knowledge of major movie and TV franchises, studios, and other industry elements - and perform research as needed to ensure articles both reinforce our authority in the space and satisfy our readers.
Ā Follow editorial guidelines and adapt writing style to site voice (with plenty of room for personal flourishes) as needed.
Ā Maintain professional standards of communication within our organization.
You Have:
Ā Prior publishing experience in journalism or other professional writing fields (technical and/or creative).
Ā A portfolio of past work for us to review.
Ā Degree and/or certification in English-related education is a benefit but not mandatory.
Ā Ambition, a passion for publishing, and a desire to help us connect with readers and grow our brand.
