Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriting Manager to lead our underwriting and processing teams on a contract basis. This role may transition to a full-time position after 3 months, depending on performance and team needs. The ideal candidate will oversee the training of loan processors and loan officers, handle loan escalations, and manage day-to-day operations to ensure efficient, compliant workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop training programs for loan processors and loan officers, with a focus on both QM and Non-QM loan products.
Review and manage loan escalations, providing solutions for complex loan files.
Provide underwriting expertise, coaching, and guidance to the team.
Ensure all loan processing and underwriting operations align with company policies and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with senior management to optimize workflow and improve processing efficiency.
Perform other general management tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in mortgage underwriting, with proficiency in QM and Non-QM loans.
Proven ability in training and developing underwriting or processing teams.
Strong leadership skills with a record of effectively managing loan escalations.
Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state regulations related to mortgage lending.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
