Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer

Remote Full-time
About the position

The Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer plays a crucial role in the mortgage loan origination process, ensuring that all necessary documentation is accurately processed and assembled. This position is responsible for monitoring the documentation of mortgage loan files to determine when they are ready to be sent to the Mortgage Loan Underwriter. The individual will coordinate loan closings with title companies and prepare all necessary loan documents for closing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role involves maintaining construction loan-in-process files and serving as an administrator for loan origination software. The Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer will also assist with Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) duties and responsibilities, producing departmental reports for management and balancing the general ledger as needed. The position emphasizes a strong credit culture within the Lending Division, where management aims to cultivate banking relationships that meet all financial needs of customers. The primary source of repayment for loans is expected to come from the borrower's income, with collateral serving as a secondary source. The bank adopts a conservative approach to underwriting but is open to approving riskier loans on a case-by-case basis, provided that the increased risk is reflected in the loan structure, rate, and fees. The role does not involve labor-intensive loan products that require additional monitoring, such as asset-based credit facilities or indirect loans. Essential duties include providing administrative assistance to residential loan originators and underwriters, assembling loan files, ordering pertinent documentation, and entering loan information into department spreadsheets. The individual must ensure that all residential loan files contain the necessary documents with proper signatures, dates, and legal descriptions. The role also involves performing clerical duties, answering inquiries about loan processing and closing, cross-selling bank products, and maintaining loan-in-process files by ordering inspections and lien updates. The Mortgage Loan Processor/Closer will produce various reports, including the Mortgage Pipeline and Loan Committee reports, and will assist in maintaining and updating loan origination software as needed.
