Mortgage Funder, Third Party Residential Underwriting

The Residential Mortgage Funder is responsible for instructing, advancing, and closing mortgage files, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and maintaining communication with solicitors and accounting departments.ResponsibilitiesCheck with law society for entitlement of solicitorCheck information to ensure accuracy, i.e., correct lender, CMHC/GE approvalContact solicitor to confirm that he/she is acting on mortgagor’s behalfPrepare and send applicable instructional package to solicitor along with relevant documentsFollow up with solicitor to obtain advance requestOrganize mortgage files in correct orderCheck the request for funds from the solicitorSend the mortgage advance sheet to the accounting departmentSend the solicitor a list of outstanding conditions, mortgage commitment and mortgage advance breakdownContact solicitor when funds are readyFollow up with solicitor prior to closingContact solicitor to advise that funds can be releasedEnsure that all conditions have been met, all documentation has been received and that file is complete on the day of closingClose files in the system and send to accounting departmentReview solicitor mortgage documentation to ensure it corresponds to the terms of the commitment and is in compliance with established regulatory and company guidelines and policiesEscalate any documentation issues to the Mortgage Underwriter and/or Manager for reviewCoordinate with mortgage accounting for the release of mortgage funds on a timely basisRespond to all inquiries within the established turnaround timesAdhere to policies/procedures to ensure AML requirements are metSkillsCompleted post-secondary education or equivalent work experience requiredWorking knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment requiredBilingualism (French, English) required-interactions with English-speaking customer or partnersStrong communication skills—both written and verbalAbility to maintain positive relationshipsStrong aptitude for service excellenceAttention to detailOrganizational and time management skillsPositive team playerFully competent in working with basic PC software and working knowledge of the suite of Microsoft office productsAbility to manage pressure in an environment of high volume processing with tight turnaround timesPrevious experience within Financial Services sector preferredPrevious experience within Mortgage industry an assetBenefitsHealth Spending AccountMaternity and Parental Leave Top UpCompetitive CompensationComprehensive benefits programHybrid working environmentExtensive training programs to set our employees up for successModern office environment conducive to collaborationSupportive teamwork cultureOpportunities to give back to the communities and work through events focused on a variety of charitiesOngoing social events throughout the yearCompany OverviewFirst National Financial LP is one of Canada's largest non-bank lenders, originating and servicing both residential and commercial mortgages.
