Your Role and Responsibilities The Metadata Management Lead will be responsible for defining and implementing the metadata management strategy for the Government Health & Human service projects. You will partner closely with the Data Governance Lead for defining what metadata is captured in order to support the development and implementation of the data warehouse. • Must be able to Travel to client project sites. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Define the types of metadata that will be captured and shared on the state project, including business, technical, and operational metadata. • Define the metadata management standards and disseminate this information out to the business and technical communities who will be capturing and creating metadata • Identify automated and manual ways for sharing metadata between the various tool sets such as the data modeling tools, the data dictionary, and ETL tools. • Manage the various metadata repositories that will be used on the project. • Provide instruction and guidance on the metadata tools to the business and technical communities • Monitor the quality of the metadata that is captured to ensure that it is meeting standards, and report on this quality to client and technical leads. • Work closely with the Data Governance Lead, Data Integration Lead and Architects, and the state designated Enterprise Data Governance Committee to ensure that the definition and implementation for metadata standards meet the needs of the state project. Successful candidates will possess: • Healthcare industry, or state department health and human service program knowledge (such as Medicaid, MMIS etc) • Demonstrated effective communication skills to collaborate with technical teams, customer stakeholders and delivery team managers on projects Required Professional and Technical Expertise • 2 years minimum experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin or ER/Studio • 2 years minimum experience with data lineage and ETL tools such as IBM InfoSphere DataStage or Informatica • 2 years minimum years of experience in sharing metadata between the metadata repository and business intelligence tools such as Cognos. • 4 years minimum years of previous work experience as a data modeler or enterprise data architect. • 2 years minimum experience defining metadata standards. Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise • Medicaid, MMIS or related experience in Healthcare • experience with Erwin in the capture of business and technical metadata definition • 5 years of experience defining and establishing metadata management processes within an enterprise.
