Medical Yoga Therapist - Recreation Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Yoga Therapist to join our team as a Recreation Assistant at the John D. Dingell Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Detroit, MI. As a Recreation Assistant-Medical Yoga Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing medical yoga therapy to promote, restore, and preserve the health and well-being of our nation's heroes.
About the Position:
This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a competitive salary range of $46,303 - $60,190 per year, depending on experience. The selected candidate will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with occasional Saturday clinics. As a Recreation Assistant-Medical Yoga Therapist, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up yoga settings and equipment, instructing Veterans on the safe use of yoga equipment, conducting well-being classes, and compiling records and reports.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and set up yoga settings and equipment
Instruct Veterans on the safe use of yoga equipment
Conduct well-being classes, either group or individual, to promote, preserve, or restore health and well-being
Compile, prepare, and submit records, reports, and requests concerning participation, material, and equipment purchase, and inventories
Refer patients appropriately when mental or physical issues are out of the scope of practice of the yoga instructor
Provide accurate instruction in the areas of Yoga
Serve as a consultant to leadership on issues surrounding yoga
Participate in meetings to report progress on patients, programs, and interventions
Act as a mentor to medical yoga trainees
Requirements:
U.S. citizenship required
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
Must be proficient in basic written and spoken English
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in Federal Service, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred: Registered Yoga Teacher-200 (RYT-200) certification or higher
