Note: This role is a backfill for an employee on maternity leave.

Hourly pay: $65

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or PharmD with 1-2+ years of medical writing experience with preference for expertise in immunology and infectious diseases. Additional related degrees will be considered in conjunction with the right experience. An Alphanumeric Medical Writer delivers content for internal and external medical affairs initiatives including, but not limited to, presentations, advisory boards materials, infographics, and strategy and messaging plans.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to create original, high-quality, and scientifically accurate content for a myriad of medical communications content types. Bring your creativity and your eye for detail. We are looking for a storyteller and a scientist who can adhere to project specifications, budget limitations, and develop content on time. Alphanumeric Medical Writers are therapy area experts who work closely with client leads to deliver exceptional content and relish the opportunity to increase their scientific expertise.

Key Responsibilities
• Write materials with tone and language appropriate for the target audience and ensure an appropriate and effective story flow is in place.
• Develop accurate and concise outlines, on-target first drafts, and proactively incorporate data/revisions as appropriate for high-quality content development.
• Provide input on project specifications, timelines, and budget considerations to the account team.
• Collaborate with client leads, clinical scientists, key opinion leaders, authors, and Alphanumeric team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budgeted project scope.
• Develop detailed briefs for cross-functional colleagues and internal team members when collaborative work is required to the goals of the project and any next steps are clear.
• Prioritize scientific accuracy, clarity, and ethics when creating, referencing, reviewing, or editing content.
• Nurture your knowledge within assigned therapeutic areas to become a trusted partner and subject matter expert.
• Offer editorial and peer review to improve the writing of colleagues as needed.

Job Requirements

Specific Skills and Requirements
• Proficient with MS Office (specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), internet and database searches (eg, Pubmed, ClinicalTrials.gov)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
• Attention to detail needed to ensure consistency and quality of content created
• Comfortable interacting with clinicians, research scientists, and therapeutic experts to interpret study results
• Always engages client leads in a professional manner and proactively addresses client needs to help our client partners reach and exceed their medical communication objectives
• Actively seeks out process improvements to propel efficiencies and quality within project scope and budget
• Working knowledge of standard compliance procedures and regulatory process and works diligently to ensure content produced adheres to Alphanumeric and client standards.
• Utilize Creative, story-telling approach to content presentation.

Education and/or Experience:

A PhD, PharmD, MD or scientific background with experience commiserate with graduate level training.

1-2+ years of medical writing experience within a medical communications agency or pharmaceutical company

Expected salary: $65 per hour
