To ensure we deliver improved benefit-to-risk solutions, we will guide and expect the market and design requirement specifications underlying our engineering, business development, and clinical research activities, objectively target advancements in standards of care.Job Summary of the Medical Sciences Director-Field BasedThe Medical Sciences Director (MSD) directs the field-based team which is an extension of the Medical Affairs organization and is responsible for developing and enhancing professional relationships with specified key strategic regional experts/influencers, institutions, and organizations in their assigned geographical region. The MSD focuses on medical & scientific engagement with identified healthcare and decision maker stakeholders by providing medical and scientific support via scientific exchange, educating and addressing customers medical and scientific informational needs, and collaborating in mutually identified areas of medical, education, clinical, and real-world experience/evidence. The MSD is recognized as an internal subject matter expert and provides appropriate medical and scientific support for internal teams as identified.Requirements of the Medical Sciences Director-Field BasedBachelor's degree required. Advanced degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, DSC, DNP, NP, DPM, OTD/PTD) in a related discipline strongly preferredAt least 10 years of experience in Field Medical, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Medical Education, or comparable experienceExperience in Peripheral Nerve Surgery, Nerve Repair, Neuroscience, Reconstructive Surgery, Physical Rehabilitation/Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy or Pain Management preferredActive clinical care, clinical research, or academia experience preferredClear understanding of regional medical practice, clinical decision-making and healthcare systems affecting patient careDemonstrated strong understanding of clinical research trial and/or related laboratory research design and executionExtensive knowledge of Reconstructive Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Hand Surgery, Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery, Physical Medical and Rehabilitation, Pain Management or Neurology and field medical affairs is strongly preferred.Competencies: Customer Service focus, Teamwork & Collaboration, Written and Verbal Communication skills, Presentation skills, Time Management skills, Self-StarterWorking Conditions: Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Approximately 60% overnight travelResponsibilities of the Medical Sciences Director-Field BasedThe specific duties of the Medical Sciences Director-Field Based include but are not limited to:Set the scientific engagement and communication strategies for identified target accountsEnsure synergistic collaboration between commercial teams and field sciences team.Identify key knowledge gaps within target accounts and develop key strategies for the field team implementationIn collaboration with strategic accounts team, develop, track and optimize key performance metrics and processes for field medical team, medical affairs strategies for target account development and key engagementsProvide medical information through scientific exchange in a fair-balanced manner with clinical/scientific support as identified or requested in addressing the informational needs of the healthcare community, as well as responding to unsolicited requests for pipeline or off-label information.Ensure effective delivery of medical presentations to diverse healthcare professional (HCP) audiences including healthcare decision makers, professional medical societies, and identified advocacy groups.Support field medical teams in delivering scientific and medical insights to advance development initiatives, including stakeholder engagement, follow-ups, and strategic collaborations with regional thought leaders and investors.Foster a culture that maintains cross-functional collaboration with internal & external field teams to provide scientific expertise and medical support within Medical Affairs, Commercial, Clinical Development, Scientific Programs, Healthcare Economics, and other internal stakeholders, etc.Obtaining, assimilating, organizing, and reporting appropriate competitive and scientific intelligence in a concise, clear manner, compliant with all applicable policies, procedures, and processesEnsure the creation and development of mutually collaborative relationships with strategic institutions, Centers of Excellence, local influencers and key decision makers across the healthcare ecosystem in the areas of medical, education, clinical, research, and real-world experience.Attending & participating in regional medical/scientific meetings and conferences for the purpose of gaining scientific insights, collecting emerging scientific data, identifying healthcare trends, and supporting the scientific exchange and communication related to targeted therapeutic areas of interest and research & development.Responsible for the development and maintenance of annual department level budget and monthly/quarterly department financial reportingAs identified, contribute to internal training and supporting speaker training initiatives.Collaborating with experts and Medical Communications to support the development of appropriate publications and related medical communications.Participate in assigned Medical Affairs projects, initiatives, and activities as identified and requested.Directly Leads Medical Sciences Managers/Field Educators; Responsible for driving a high performance culture, personal accountability, professionalism and a commitment to results.Performing and completing administrative responsibilities, including reporting requirements in a timely fashion.Location111 West Oak Ave., Tampa, FL 33602OR RemoteBenefits/CompensationThis position is eligible for an annual bonus.Benefits offered for this position include Health, Dental, Vision, Matching 401K, Paid Time Off, 9 Paid Holidays + 3 Floating Holidays, Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Medical Flexible Spending Accounts, Tuition Reimbursement, Paid Parental Leave, Paid Caregiver Leave, Basic Life Insurance, Supplemental Life Insurance, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and Disability Insurance, as described in more detail in summary plan descriptions.Salary Range$179,208—$224,000 USDAxogen follows healthcare system guidelines with respect to credentialing, vaccinations and other employment/compliance related requirements, as well as CDC guidance.
