Medical Record Support Specialist

The position will be fully remote.

Ensures the timely access and completion of paper-based documentation by scanning, indexing, chart review, and quality assurance.

Essential Functions:
ā¢ Prepares and scans all paper-based medical records using imaging software, ensuring accuracy and quality according to departmental procedures.
ā¢ Indexes documents under correct type and level within the electronic database.
ā¢ Reviews scanned and indexed documents to verify accuracy, completeness, and legibility.
ā¢ Unpacks and sorts incoming mail delivered to the Health Information Management department. Answers incoming calls and assists with providing customer service.
ā¢ Assists with workflow and process improvement, participating in relevant activities and reporting issues as needed.
ā¢ Maintains confidentiality of all medical records and patient information.
Education Requirement:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Licensure Requirement:

Certifications:
RHIT/RHIA certification, preferred.
Skills:
ā¢ Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software programs.
ā¢ Analytical and organizational skills.
ā¢ Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Experience:
One year of experience in hospital setting or medical record department, required.
