Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Bill Coder who can review, validate, and apply appropriate coding to medical bills in compliance with state-specific regulations and industry standards. The ideal candidate will ensure billing accuracy, improve claims efficiency, and reduce compliance risk.
Key Responsibilities
ā¢ Review incoming medical bills for completeness and accuracy.
ā¢ Assign proper CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes based on medical records and documentation.
ā¢ Ensure coding aligns with state regulations, payer-specific rules,
ā¢ Identify and correct coding discrepancies, unbundled codes, or documentation gaps.
ā¢ Collaborate with billing, claims, and compliance teams to resolve coding-related issues.
ā¢ Stay updated with coding changes, fee schedules, and relevant state legislation.
ā¢ Support audits and internal reviews as needed.
Qualifications
ā¢ Certification: CPC, CCS, or equivalent required.
ā¢ Minimum 3-5 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a workers compensation or physical medicine environment.
ā¢ Strong understanding of state-specific billing guidelines and medical coding compliance.
ā¢ Proficiency with EHR systems and coding software (e.g., EncoderPro, Availity).
ā¢ High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
ā¢ Experience working with workers compensation claims.
ā¢ Familiarity with NCCI edits and payer-specific rules.
