About the position
Responsibilities
• Provide back office assistance to healthcare providers during patient examinations and treatments.
• Greet and check in patients, verifying coverage and eligibility, and completing necessary paperwork.
• Obtain patient histories and take vital signs.
• Assist with coordination of care for patients.
• Administer medications as directed by healthcare providers.
• Prepare examination rooms for patient visits.
• Clean and sterilize instruments according to protocol.
• Answer telephone calls in compliance with departmental procedures and route calls appropriately.
• Schedule appointments and verify membership based on benefit coverage.
• Review preprinted instruction sheets with patients.
• Attend department staff meetings and in-service programs.
• Cross-train in new procedures and departments as needed.
Requirements
• Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
• At least 1 year of front and back office experience.
• Phlebotomy skills are essential.
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency in Electronic Health Records.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Team-oriented with strong time management skills.
• Responsible and reliable work ethic.
Nice-to-haves
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
