Mechanical Design Manager (Contingent)

Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Program Manager specializing in building HVAC and Plumbing. This role is pivotal in supporting the development and implementation of design standards across various building programs. As the primary liaison between key internal Amazon design stakeholder teams, the GES Design and Construction team, external design teams, and general contractors, you will facilitate design development and enhance standardization across all Amazon building sites. The ideal candidate will possess extensive project management experience leading Mechanical Programs on projects that include industrial warehouse/fulfillment facilities and/or manufacturing facilities. You will be responsible for leading multi-discipline coordination on new and ongoing design and construction projects, including Value Engineering (VE) initiatives and cost/schedule mitigation strategies. Success in this role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-project environment while effectively prioritizing critical tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the primary point of contact between internal stakeholders, external design teams, and general contractors.
• Oversee the development and implementation of design standards across multiple building programs.
• Lead Mechanical Program projects from design development through construction administration.
• Coordinate multi-discipline efforts on new and in-flight design and construction projects.
• Implement Value Engineering (VE) practices to optimize project costs and schedules.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure adherence to design standards.
• Facilitate BIM coordination and clash detection throughout project lifecycles.
• Prioritize critical work across multiple projects to meet deadlines effectively.
Skills:
• Strong project management skills with a focus on mechanical systems in commercial settings.
• Proficiency in BIM coordination and clash detection methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and decision-making.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 10+ years of project management experience from design development through construction administration, preferably in industrial settings.
