The Position

Michael Best Strategies’ Federal Government Relations group in Washington, D.C. seeking a Federal Government Affairs Coordinator to join our team. We are looking for a highly motivated & detailed individual that is seeking administrative exposure to legislative and regulatory business challenges. This is a hybrid position with the ability to work from home one day per week.

Position Duties

As a Federal Government Affairs Coordinator, you will be expected to:
• Serve as coordinator for the Head of Gov Affairs and manage the operations of the federal team including LDA filings, assist with onboarding new clients and work through internal and external processes.
• Manage the professional schedules of the DC Federal Team leads, including setting up internal and external meetings and conference calls for our staff and clients with Congressional, Administrative offices and other stakeholders.
• Must be comfortable taking initiative to ensure the success of complex day-to-day operations of the Federal Team and long-term planning.
• Have a strong understanding of how Capitol Hill, campaigns, and Federal Government offices operate.
• Stay current on events and policies in the industries that impact our clients and network. Assist with monitoring and research as needed.
• Process and manage billing, expenses, contracts and take on other administrative needs including copying, printing, mailing, etc.
• Event Planning and Client Relations:
• Support the planning for internal meetings and external events for Michael Best.
• Be an active representative for our team in relationship-building and brand-messaging to strengthen our network and client base.
• This job will require interacting with clients in addition to internal stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum two years relevant experience in legislative policy, regulatory affairs, or government relations

Other:
• Technologically savvy, with an advanced-level proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Valid authorization to work in the U.S.

For District of Columbia applicants only (as required by the Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act of 2023): The annual compensation range for this position in our DC office is between $85,000 and $104,000. Compensation is determined based on qualifications and experience. This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision, as well as elective/voluntary life, disability, and accident coverage. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the firm's 401k plan.
