Job Summary We are seeking a part-time Math Tutor to join our Johnston and Grimes, Iowa learning centers. As a Math Tutor, you will be responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment, implementing the Mathnasium curriculum and teaching methods, and participating in ongoing training and professional development. Key Responsibilities Create a positive, engaging, and fun learning center environment that fosters student success and achievement Learn and implement the Mathnasium curriculum and teaching methods to ensure consistency and quality across all learning centers Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and new technologies Tutor students in math at all grade levels (1-12) and provide individualized support and guidance as needed Develop and maintain a consistent and flexible schedule, with an average of 8-12 hours per week Collaborate with Center Directors and other instructors to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years old Math proficiency through Algebra 2 required; Pre-Calculus/Calculus preferred Experience tutoring or working with children in grades 1-12 preferred Commitment to work with us for at least 9 months Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience as a math tutor or instructor Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Familiarity with the Mathnasium curriculum and teaching methods Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Math Tutor with Mathnasium, you will need: Strong math skills and knowledge, with a focus on building number sense and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude, with a commitment to helping students overcome challenges and achieve success Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to adjust to changing schedules and priorities A passion for math and a desire to inspire students to develop a lifelong love of learning Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Mathnasium, we are committed to investing in the growth and development of our team members.
