Job Summary

We are seeking a professional and experienced Math Tutor to provide academic support to students at the College of Eastern Idaho. As a Math Tutor, you will work with students on an individual or small group basis, providing proactive and remedial support in math subjects. You will be responsible for tutoring all levels of math taught at CEI, and you may be required to facilitate workshops and administrative tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities


Provide academic support to CEI students by tutoring in math subjects, including methods of studying and improving understanding and comprehension of course material
Collaborate with faculty to provide embedded tutoring support in specific courses
Hold scheduled appointments in-person at the tutoring space or online over Zoom
Prepare for tutoring sessions by reviewing relevant material and communicating with students via email, Canvas, and other online platforms
Contribute to the preparation of workshops and materials that enhance student understanding of coursework
Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent communication skills in accordance with CEI policies and procedures
Attend and participate in monthly trainings and/or meetings, including a mandatory training the week before each semester begins
Assist the Senior Tutoring Coordinator with administrative tasks as needed
Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Senior Tutoring Coordinator


Essential Qualifications


Degree from an accredited two-year or four-year college or university OR actively enrolled as a Full-Time student in a degree program from a two-year or four-year institution AND on pace to graduate from a two-year college within a year of hire date or graduate within two-years of hire date from a four-year university
Grade of A or B in the course being tutored OR documented work or educational experience equivalent to a grade of A or B in the course being tutored
Incumbent must reside in the State of Idaho


Preferred Qualifications


Course work in the same subject areas and above the level of courses being tutored
Previous experience tutoring from a two-year college or four-year university OR experience as a TA or instructor
Taken same College of Eastern Idaho class or equivalent class that is offered for tutoring to students
Bilingual (Spanish)


Skills and Competencies


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to adapt to a variety of students with a wide range of abilities and diverse learning styles
Strong knowledge of math concepts and ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
Proficient in computer usage and word processing, database and spreadsheet programs
Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold FERPA guidelines
