About Cecil College Founded in 1968, Cecil College has been serving the community and shaping its future for over 50 years. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the governor and is centrally located in Maryland's most northeastern county, just half a mile from Interstate 95. With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. The College offers associate degrees, certificate programs, and non-credit classes, providing learning opportunities for all who have the desire and ability to benefit from its courses and programs. Job Summary We are looking for a highly qualified Math Lab Specialist to work with students and assist with the day-to-day activities of the math lab. As a Math Lab Specialist, you will be responsible for administering tests, tutoring students in various math topics, and assisting students with the use of software and calculators used in math classes. This is a remote opportunity, and we welcome applications from highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about mathematics and education. Key Responsibilities: Administer tests for Cecil College students Tutor students in all math topics ranging from basic math through calculus, either one-to-one or as a class tutor Assist students with the use of software and calculators used in math classes Provide support to students in a remote setting, utilizing digital communication tools and platforms Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure seamless delivery of math lab services Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with faculty and staff as needed Requirements: To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements: Minimum of high school diploma or GED Either enrolled in or completed Calculus I Some tutoring experience preferred but not required Knowledge of math course material through Calculus I Working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel, as well as a willingness to learn other software programs as necessary Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field Experience working with students in a remote or online setting Familiarity with online learning platforms and digital communication tools Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Skills and Competencies: To succeed in this role, you must possess the following skills and competencies: Strong knowledge of mathematics, particularly in areas up to Calculus I Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a remote setting Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with faculty and staff Willingness to learn and adapt to new software programs and technologies Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: Cecil College is committed to the professional development and growth of its employees.
