The Opportunity

As the HR Compliance & Employee Relations Lead you will work in a fast paced, innovative, and collaborative environment to solve problems and deliver substantial value to the organization. You will assist in development and implementation of the HR Compliance strategy, aligned with MassMutual’s inclusive, vibrant, and diverse culture, and collaborate across the organization on a variety of meaningful initiatives. You will also contribute to a range of challenging employee relations (ER) matters. You can have an immediate impact by providing strategic consultation, leading a variety of compliance processes and building strong partnerships.

The Team

The HR Compliance & Employee Relations Lead is a key role within an evolving function that aligns ER, HR Compliance and Risk. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a leadership role by developing and owning HR Compliance strategy, implementing new processes, improving existing processes and influencing others. ER & HR Compliance sits within HR Consulting & Talent Management and collaborates frequently with the HR Business Partners and the People Services team.

Core Accountabilities & Job Requirements

Own and lead components of an evolving HR Compliance strategy, providing insight and driving accountability to ensure compliance with HR-related federal, state and local laws/regulations

Maintain awareness of new HR-related legislation (nationally), engage and partner closely with Law and the right HR COEs to lead or facilitate timely implementation

Lead and execute various external regulatory reports/filings, including associated with EEOC, Affirmative Action and OFCCP

Conduct proactive audits of HR processes and regulatory requirements. Analyze audit results and develop recommendations to enhance compliance and mitigate risk

Manage, coordinate and serve as HR point of contact for various Compliance and Risk matters, including HIPAA and privacy breaches, conflicts of interest, data governance/records management and mandatory trainings

Identify areas of opportunity, then develop and deliver trainings to enhance knowledge and practices

Participate in enterprise-wide strategic projects requiring HR Compliance expertise

Provide guidance and coaching to employees and managers on a variety of ER matters, including progressive discipline, termination, job eliminations and complex policy questions

Conduct workplace investigations into sensitive and confidential matters

Analyze data, identify trends, and develop reports to help drive effective decision making

Partner with HR COEs, HR Business Partners, and enterprise-wide stakeholders, including within Law, Corporate Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management

Qualifications, Skills & Competencies

Bachelor’s degree required; JD, MBA or other advanced degree preferred

7+ years of subject matter expertise in HR Compliance

Experience advising on ER matters, resolving conflict and conducting investigations

Superior written and oral communication skills

Ability to establish strong cross-functional partnerships

Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively manage complex, long-term projects

Possess a “seek to understand” mentality and the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including to analyze data and identify trends

Champion continuous improvement and actively seek ways to enhance and streamline processes

Salary Range: $152,100.00-$199,600.00
