Market Operations Engineer/Analyst

The Market Operations Engineer/Analyst will provide engineering and analytical support for the wholesale market, monitor system conditions, and assist in resolving market-related issues while developing strong relationships with stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesDevelops understanding and knowledge of competitive energy markets and trendsDevelops and maintains knowledge of the wholesale market and ERCOT grid operations in order to support Market Participant business needsAcquires the skills and knowledge to begin to anticipate and resolve issues within the ERCOT wholesale market and grid operations using power engineering knowledgeGenerates and maintains market reports per requests and protocolsAssists the management team and senior experts in providing technical assistance to PUCT, industry and Stakeholder groupsWith guidance from senior team members and/or management, assists in addressing Market Participant questions pertaining to the daily market and grid operations activitiesAttends stakeholder, industry, and PUCT meetings under the direction of the ERCOT management teamEscalates issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager in a timely manner when necessaryDevelops strong working relationships with other internal departmentsPerforms engineering studies using the ERCOT network models to analyze conditions and events on the systemTests and validates changes to market applicationsMonitors and analyzes the ERCOT wholesale market and recommends design/system modifications and enhancements as neededAnticipates and resolves issues within the ERCOT wholesale market and grid operations using power engineering knowledge and experienceProposes and creates new solutions for data acquisition and reportingAssists the management team and senior experts in providing technical assistance to PUCT, industry and Stakeholder groupsAttends stakeholder, industry, and PUCT meetings and provides input when requestedUses judgment and provides remedies for Market Participants disputes within the ERCOT marketAddresses Market Participant questions pertaining to the daily market and grid operations activitiesWorks independently and escalates issues to the Supervisor and/or Manager in a timely manner when necessarySkills0 years of experience is required for Analyst Level 1Requires minimum 1 year job related work experience in excess of degree requirements for Engineer Level 2Requires minimum 3 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements for Engineer Level 3Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements for Senior Level EngineerBachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering or related field (Required) or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is requiredDemonstrates proficient technical skills SQL and/or SASExperienced with data analysis using PythonCompany OverviewThe Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) manages the flow of electric power to 24 million Texas customers.
