Manual QA Tester (Remote - MAryland)

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in ensuring high-quality software for critical government applications. The Manual QA Tester will collaborate with developers and stakeholders to design and execute comprehensive test plans, identify defects, and help improve software performance. The role focuses on enhancing functionality, reliability, and user experience through thorough manual testing. Candidates will gain valuable experience in software testing methodologies, and may also have the opportunity to develop skills in automation and software development. Accountabilities • Develop detailed test plans and test cases based on user stories, requirements, and specifications. • Execute manual testing procedures to evaluate software functionality, performance, and user experience. • Identify, document, and communicate defects to developers and follow up on resolution progress. • Collaborate with developers and cross-functional teams to improve software quality and performance. • Apply QA processes, test methodologies, and software release standards to ensure thorough testing coverage. • Perform web application testing and, if applicable, mobile application testing. • Maintain knowledge of accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG, and test accordingly. • Support opportunities to gain experience in automation testing tools and software development practices. • Minimum 1 year of experience in software testing, QA processes, or related roles. • Knowledge of operating systems, networking, and software release procedures. • Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA). • Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts. • Ability to write and execute test plans and test cases using appropriate methodologies. • Familiarity with web application testing; mobile testing experience is a plus. • Knowledge of Section 508/WCAG accessibility standards and assistive technologies such as JAWS. • Ability to obtain VA Medium-Background Investigation clearance.
