Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Manager, Data Analytics to lead our music industry analytics initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the primary data analysis partner to cross-functional teams throughout our Music Group business. You will be responsible for developing deep insights into consumer behaviors within music marketing, discovery, and usage channels, translating complex business questions into rigorous analytical frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for data and its application in understanding the music industry landscape. You should be comfortable working with large-scale transactional datasets, building statistical models, and translating technical findings into compelling narratives that resonate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. This position offers significant visibility and the opportunity to directly impact business decisions that shape the future of music entertainment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead analytical approaches to complex business challenges through data creation, analysis, and statistical modeling. Develop new methodologies integrating data from both internal and external sources to provide comprehensive business intelligence.
Build and apply classification, regression, and clustering models to derive meaningful insights from large-scale datasets. Translate business questions into analytical and technical frameworks that drive measurable results.
Contribute to strategic initiatives and new business opportunities by developing predictive models and frameworks to understand potential market opportunities, performance drivers, and the impact of external factors on our music business.
Support data-informed business strategies by applying data mining, quantitative analysis, and visualization techniques to surface and highlight key themes, answering critical business questions across varied business areas.
Extract and prepare data for analysis by acquiring, organizing, cleansing, and manipulating complex, large-scale data from multiple disparate sources using advanced tools such as PySpark and advanced SQL queries.
Apply supervised and unsupervised learning techniques including linear and logistic regression, decision trees, or k-means clustering to derive, validate, and evaluate conclusions from complex datasets.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities and understand performance metrics, diving deep into data to drive meaningful and actionable insights that inform business decisions.
Contribute to organizational needs through ongoing reporting and analysis to inform business, product, marketing, and sales strategies across all music platforms and distribution channels.
Lead content performance and audience analysis for music releases and product launches, developing and tracking key metrics to measure success and identify growth opportunities.
Perform statistical analysis including KPI deep dives, behavioral clustering, and customer journey analysis. Develop analytical pipelines for automated, scalable, repeatable, and integrated analysis using modern big data architectures in environments such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Google BigQuery.
Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to execute data-driven initiatives and ensure alignment between technical implementation and business objectives.
Contribute to solution discovery, design, build, and QA processes by working collaboratively on data models, database schema, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and validation frameworks.
Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, establishing standards and best practices to maximize impact and contribution across the organization.


Required Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field including Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related discipline from an accredited institution
Minimum of 3 years of professional data analysis experience in a corporate or industry setting
Minimum of 3 years of team management or supervisory experience
Demonstrated experience developing statistical models and analyses for real-world business applications


Technical Skills

Strong proficiency in manipulating large, transactional-level datasets and interpreting data trends from various disparate data sources
Solid hands-on experience developing complex analytical solutions using scripting languages such as Python or R
Advanced proficiency in SQL and large-scale data processing languages such as PySpark
Experience with data mining in distributed systems such as Spark or Databricks
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
Experience developing analytical software that scales for enterprise-wide investigations
Working knowledge of media performance metrics and analytics
Experience working with data in the entertainment or media industry preferred

History of working independently, demonstrating creativity, and delivering measurable results
Genuine passion for music and the music industry
Strong familiarity with music streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music), social media platforms (TikTok, Facebook/Instagram), and emerging technologies (digital assistants/voice platforms)


Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading data-driven projects across a broad cross-functional landscape
Experience building, managing, and inspiring teams in strategic support functions
Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field including Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related discipline

Compensation & Benefits
