Manager, Continuing Education (Remote)

Manages interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other members of the healthcare team across Advocate Health. Collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders for accreditation planning and the assessment of educational outcomes to ensure the IPCE program supports the enterprise’s efforts to improve... quality and patient care through collaborative, high functioning care teams.

Major Responsibilities:
• Leads a team responsible for development, accreditation, and implementation of IPCE activities. Includes oversite of work products, delegation of work, performance management, and professional development.
• Creates procedures to ensure all education is developed according to Joint Accreditation (JA) criteria, Standards for Integrity in Continuing Education, and Advocate Health policies.
• Identifies opportunities to advance and improve IPCE program by implementing best practices in instructional design, promoting inter-professional education, and encouraging innovative learning strategies.
• Manages decisions on the approval or declination of credit for IPCE activities by applying knowledge of accreditation criteria and policies and provides guidance in complex cases of accreditation.
• Proactively consults with leadership to identify opportunities to close practice gaps with accredited education; builds positive relationships with leaders across the enterprise.
• Directs evaluation of educational outcomes for each activity and contributes to the overall evaluation Advocate Health IPCE program. Reports outcomes to key stakeholders and leadership regularly. Creates longitudinal dashboards used to make decisions about the overall IPCE program.
• Supports reaccreditation through the successful completion of performance in practice documentation and review of the reaccreditation self-study.
• Performs leadership responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
• Manages accreditation through an online learning management system; builds new education in platform and supports online reporting to accrediting body.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

None Required.

Education Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Health Care Administration, or related field required.

Experience Required:
• 5 years of experience in continuing education required.
• Experience in healthcare preferred.
• 2 years of experience in leadership or managerial capacity, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
• Comprehensive knowledge of effective best practices and national trends in continuing education.
• Demonstrate ability to think critically.
• Excellent organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and have an exceptional attention to detail. Must balance multiple competing priorities/schedules.
• Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to design educational activities incorporating collaboration of multiple stakeholders and cross-functional work teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, management, executives, and a wide variety of internal and external accrediting bodies, medical specialty societies, vendors, collaborators and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of developing, reviewing and maintaining budgets and contracts.
• Interest in or experience in adult education, quality improvement processes, and/or accredited education.
• Intermediate computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word) or similar products, and web-based or e-learning systems.
