All your team plans and assembles the hardware, software, and networking technologies that power Google's services. As a Hardware Specialist, you design and build the systems that are the core of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to huge system design and see those systems all the way through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work can shape the apparatus that goes into our state-of-the-art data centers, influencing a huge number of Google clients. Job Summary As an AI ASIC Design Engineering Lead, you will provide day-to-day direction to Silicon engineers. You and the team will be responsible for architecting, designing, and verifying digital logic using Etch, Verilog, or potentially SystemVerilog for the gChips TPU team. You will interact with designers to define features and interfaces with Physical Design groups to ensure efficient execution to deliver excellent PPA. You will work with Production and Silicon Validation teams to enable chip bring-up and production tests. Key Responsibilities Set technical directions for the team within the scope of technical lead and individual contributor. Engage with AI Framework Architects and Software groups to define specifications and implement digital logic using Etch, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog. Engage with Verification and Silicon Validation groups to ensure the functionality of the design. Perform power, area, and performance trade-offs of digital designs and structures. Apply engineering best practices (e.g., code review, testing, refactoring) to the design and implementation of ASIC blocks. Essential Qualifications Four-year college education in Electrical design, Software engineering, or comparable down-to-earth insight. 4 years of involvement with ASIC design. Experience with RTL (Register-Transfer Level) and chip configuration streams. Experience overseeing or driving a team. Preferred Qualifications Graduate degree or Ph.D. in Electrical design, Software engineering, or a connected field. Knowledge of accelerators (e.g., AI or GPUs) or comparable high-performance designs. Comprehension of PC engineering/memory subsystem design. Comprehension of power/performance/area trade-offs. Skills and Competencies Required for Success Strong technical leadership skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience with digital design and verification. Knowledge of ASIC design and implementation. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
