Job description: Posting Detail Information Posting Number S02404 Position Title Tutor III - Science Internal Position Title Tutor III - Science Department Tutoring Center, GLC Position Type Part-Time Flex Job Family Part-Time Flex Job Summary The Tutor III for Science is an active participant in the CLC Tutoring Center, coaching students in selected subjects as well as in study and technology skills as needed. The Tutor participates in staff development opportunities, contributes to center projects, and helps promote the center within the CLC community. Required Qualification(s) * Bachelor's degree or higher OR an Associate's degree with four (4) semesters experience as a Tutor II and the recommendation of the Tutoring Center Coordinator(s). Successful completion of college-level courses in subject to be tutored. Ability to tutor in multiple modalities (face-to-face and online). Ability to communicate and interact effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Ability to assess student learning needs and determine appropriate learning strategies. Desired Qualification(s) * Previous Tutoring Center experience Proficient in MS Office Willingness to work at multiple campus locations (Lakeshore, Southlake, Grayslake) Bilingual in Spanish and English Posting Date 08/17/2023 Closing Date 08/31/2023 Expected Start Date Special Instructions Summary This is a part-time flex position and employment shall be on an at-will basis, the duration of which shall be in accordance with the needs of the College of Lake County. -Part-time flex employees are not eligible to participate in any benefits program at the College, including tuition reimbursement, tuition waiver, health insurance or paid time off. Pay Rate $19.62/hr (FIRM) Full-Time/Part-Time Part-Time Flex Location Grayslake Total Hours per week 4-19 Work Schedule As needed by semester. Refer students to support services when appropriate. Document tutoring sessions and complete other required reporting. Participate in staff development opportunities and in the tutor evaluation process. Participate in center projects as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned.
