Job description:
Highly proficient in school computer software (i.e., MS Office, AS400, PowerSchool, School Dude, Google Suite).
Outstanding organizational skills.
Demonstrated good judgment and initiative. Adept at diffusing potentially volatile situations
Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines, and handle crisis situations as needed.
Ability to prioritize tasks; work with little supervision, as well as, a productive member of a team.
Ability to work with students, parents, staff, district employees, and external agencies.
Familiar with and follow FERPA and HIPPA laws.
Media Center experience or related coursework
Knowledge of general office procedures, office related equipment and computer software
Previous work experience in an elementary school setting preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE:
Assists students, parents, administrators, and staff as needed.
Assist in explaining media material and concepts to students as initiated by the classroom teacher
Follow the procedures and program of instruction in basic library skills as prepared by and under the direction of the teacher/media specialist/principal.
Assist in the processing and mending of all print and non-print media
Assists teachers and supervise and/or assist students in checking out and returning library materials, in using audio visual and computer equipment, and in locating reference materials
Keep library circulation figures and equipment use counts.
Maintain an accurate, up-to-date card catalog and shelf list.
Record and retrieve overdue books and other materials.
Serve as the general clerk in the school office as scheduled and directed.
Assist with testing programs as directed, i.e., monitoring, checking, gridding, distributing, and inventory, and packaging of materials
Supervise students and student library aides
Administer medication to students as needed
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal and/or media specialist
