Job description: ROLE: The Graduate Student Success Coach will collaborate with the Academic Advisors and other success coaches in the Graduate Resource Center in support of the School of Educations (SOE) goal to provide targeted outreach to M.A. and Ed.D students. The goal of the center is to create a welcoming environment for all students and specifically for Hispanic and other underserved students in the SOE. This PPOHA grant-funded position strives to increase the engagement, retention, and success of students in the MAED/EL programs and the Ed.D. Program in Educational Leadership. This position provides academic, personal, writing, and career support to students as a success coach and also serves as a resource for offering wrap-around services to graduate students including counseling, health, and financial need referrals. This position will also provide career and writing education for Graduate Students in the School of Education in collaboration with Concordia's Career and Writing Centers. This position will also provide educational outreach services including online and in-person student success workshops.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Oversee a roster of assigned students in the School of Education M.A. and Ed.D. programs and provide academic, career, and social and emotional support.
Collaborate with students to develop a personal success plan focused on personal, academic, and career goals. Help them assess academic needs, set goals, and refer them to appropriate resources.
Conduct meetings face-to-face and virtually (individually and in small groups) with services including: academic advising, success coaching, writing support, networking, wrap-around support including career, health and wellness, counseling, emergency financial assistance, food and clothing banks, housing, transportation, and childcare information referrals.
Provide targeted outreach to students identified as being in need or at risk as determined by academic dismissal, academic probation, and academic warnings.
Communicate to other offices, departments, staff, and faculty, as needed, with respect to available resources for students.
Assist in the management of daily operations and activities for the Graduate Resource Center and create a welcoming and inclusive environment in the GRC for Hispanic and other underserved students.
Communicate regularly with assigned students, utilizing best practices for intrusive advising including ?nudges? about academic deadlines, exam preparation, registration, and financial aid processes.
Hold regular coaching sessions based on specific student data, utilizing Bettinger and Baker coaching strategies.
Promote, track, and monitor the persistence and completion rates for assigned students.
Help students overcome barriers to their academic and personal success by understanding all university resources and referring students to them.
Maintain regular contact with assigned students to help them develop and monitor a clear vision of their goals.
Create and implement targeted interventions for students on academic probation.
Develop and implement training seminars including but not limited to: academic success, writing support, campus resources, career development., time management, organization, study skills, etc.
Provide outreach and communication about the School of Education to CUI undergraduate students, community college transfer students, and adults in the community.
Meet regularly with the PPOHA Project Director and staff to assess and ensure program accountability.
Maintain records of meetings with students and document student interaction.
Collect data for the purpose of analyzing and reporting to appropriate stakeholders with attention to student confidentiality.
Implement a communication strategy to Concordia University Undergraduate students, transfer students, and adults in the educational system to promote school of education programs
Collaborate with program directors and admissions to support grant-related communication strategies to potential SOE students.
Monitor website content and recommend changes and updates.
Collaborate with the Director- Career Services to develop comprehensive career services for graduate students in the School of Education.
Keep current on research, best practices, and new initiatives regarding career development.
Provide one-on-one online and in-person career support for graduate students including developing goals and action plans to achieve career goals. .
Assist students with resume workshops, mock interviews, job identification and search services, and other career related training and support.
Research and advise students on discipline-specific career opportunities and job search techniques.
Participate in professional development activities related to career services.
Develop outreach and publicity efforts to create awareness of GRC career support through a variety of communication channels and methods.
Collaborate with relevant programs to promote and market GRC and other career support programs.
Provide career support workshops to MAED/EL and EdD students as needed.
Develop and connect students to appropriate resource materials to support student success.
Assist with collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and implementing assessment strategies to improve services.
Keep current on research, best practices, and new initiatives regarding tutoring and academic support.
Create clear pathways for students to access Concordia's Online Writing Lab Consultants (OWL)
Participate in professional development activities related to current developments for providing online feedback to writers, research, and scholarship in rhetoric and composition.
Remain current on best practices and resources for teaching writing in an online format
Develop outreach and publicity efforts to create awareness of GRC writing support through a variety of communication channels and methods.
Collaborate with relevant programs to promote and market GRC and other writing support programs.
Develop and connect students to appropriate resource materials to support student success.
Meet regularly with the Writing Studio/Tutoring Services Director to develop, prioritize, and organize specific goals for Graduate student writing support in the School of Education.
Assist with collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports, and implementing assessment strategies to improve services.
Participate in meetings and conferences related to current developments in tutoring centers, teaching, research, and scholarship regarding best practices.

Expected salary: $48000 - 60000 per year
