Looking for a talented illustrator for four middle-grade chapter books
Synopsis of Four chapter books: middle-grade chapter books, each with twenty chapters, about a girl who discovers her love for trees and shares what she is learning with her friends and family. These four chapter books will be published as a boxed set, so the preference is to work with the same artist for all four books.
Size: 5.06 x 7.81 inches plus 0.125 inch bleed
Total number of illustrations: four similar color covers, 80 black and white (5.06 x 7.81 plus bleed) pen and ink-type drawings for each chapter, plus about 20 simple scientific-type drawings of tree-related images. Must be copyrightable. This is a work-for-hire project; all rights will be retained by the author. Non-disclosure agreement required.
Style preference: Mix of traditional and digital is ok. Prefer watercolor look for color covers. Prefer hand-drawn illustration style, not 3D animation. Whimsical and gentle, with a soft storybook feel. The illustrations should support the narrative. The illustrator would work with me to develop illustrations and cover art to be used across all four books. The collaboration will start with concept sketches and include feedback rounds, leading to polished, print-ready illustrations. I am looking for an illustrator who honors the spirit of classic children’s illustration.
Formats: ebook (digital), paperback, hardback. Use the code word “aspen” in your proposal.
