Logistics Administrator - Defense (contract position)

Position Summary Oversees and administers the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between points of origin through placement, receipt, storage and shipment to meet customer requirements. This position is onsite in Jacksonville, FL. JOB RESPONSIBLITIES • Defines rules for transportation regarding applicable carriers, services, and payers. • Implements, monitors and enforces the application of policies and procedures. • Reviews and corrects invoices & packing lists, checking rates, services, and applicability. • Monitors transportation service levels and issues claims when applicable (delays, damages or losses). • Coordinates with transportation and freight forwarding companies. • Arrange for special transportation when needed (big volumes, remote locations, out of normal requests). • Updates, monitors, and enforces procedures regarding import/export, customs clearance and export control. • Defines the requirements for systems integration with carriers’ shipping systems when needed. • Develops new transportation solutions when needed (international and domestic). • Monitors and audits off site storage activities and charges. • Sets-up warehousing layout in designated locations off site when needed. • Develops special packaging for dangerous goods, odd shaped or delicate parts. Education ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES • High School/ GED required • Business Administration or Technical associate degree, preferred Experience • Entry Level Administrative Professional Contributor on a Project or Work Team. • A minimum of 1 year of experience or more in Logistics with a strong understanding of inventory controls, warehousing, distribution, and means of efficiently transporting goods to appropriate destinations. • Experience in establishing, monitoring, and following up transportation services and contracts with carriers. • Ability to deal with customs. • Experience with ITAR/controlled Defense material exports preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Essential: Transportation services contracts administration; knowledge of warehouse processes and activities, such as shipping, receiving, packing, and inventory control; proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel and Word). • Desirable: Aeronautical familiarization, SAP, Dangerous goods. • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities • Strong verbal and written communication skills required, including interpersonal skills GENERAL COMMITMENT FOR ALL EMPLOYEES • Commitment to company values and complies with department norms, policies, directives, and procedures. • Incorporates Lean and P3E processes and concepts into daily activities. • Strive for continuous improvement to processes and procedures. • Honors and protects confidential and proprietary documents and information. • Satisfies work schedule requirements. • This position is subject to ITAR/EAR which requires U.S. person status, or the ability to obtain a DSP5.
