Read and interpret strain gage installation drawings to provide oversight and direction to shop personnel including gage orientation, problem solving, and record requisite post-installation data
• Organize, plan, estimate labor, schedule, and status strain gage installation, gage wiring, cabling, DAS connections and initial troubleshooting
• Understand Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) with enough detail to provide direction for DAS interface, patching, entering Engineering Units conversion factors, participate in confidence testing, and final troubleshooting
• Understand a Load Control System (LCS) with enough detail to configure load and displacement measurement devices, enter Engineering Units conversion factors, select initial PID loop parameters, participate in confidence testing, and troubleshooting
Understand hydraulic systems and components, ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic servo valves and other hydraulic components
• Obtain consensus and prepare written procedures detailing LCS/DAS test operational procedures
• Operate a test on a daily basis directed by written procedures. This includes daily test startup, test operation, test anomalies, and observation of key parameters while the test is progressing
• When a test problem occurs provide perspective/observations to the cognizant engineer to aid in determining the root cause, suggest corrective action and perspective if the test should be restarted or suspended pending further review
• Offload test data daily and review for quality (by procedure) prior to delivery to Customer
• Able to participate in daily discussions on any potential data anomalies
• Able to participate in test article inspection activities
• Participate in other various structural, hydraulic, and pneumatic setup and operational activities as needed
• Provide LCS/DAS/sensor guidance to other engineers as needed
• Work under general direction from Test Lead and Management. Work independently to determine and develop practical solutions to tasks, technical, schedule, or other problems.
Desired Skills
• MTS AeroPro software experience
• Static and Fatigue Full-Scale or Component Structural Testing
• Setup and Operation of Load Control and Data Acquisition Systems
• Direct experience operating a Load Control and Data Acquisition System on a full-scale or component level test
