Literacy Interventionist MTSS, Grades 6-12 (Remote – Colorado Only))
Position SummaryThe MTSS Literacy Interventionist provides targeted, data-driven literacy instruction and intervention to students identified through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This role collaborates closely with the MTSS team and mentors to design, implement, and monitor reading and writing interventions that address individual student needs. The Literacy Interventionist supports student growth in literacy skills while promoting confidence, engagement, and academic success.Essential Duties (Top 5 Roles)1) Deliver targeted language arts interventions aligned to MTSS tiersProvide small-group and individualized literacy intervention for students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 supportsImplement evidence-based instructional strategies in reading and writing, including comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and written expressionDifferentiate instruction based on student data, learning goals, and identified skill gapsMonitor student understanding and adjust instruction to maximize progress2) Collaborate with the Williamsburg Academy of Colorado MTSS team and ELA teamCommunicate regularly with the MTSS team regarding student progress, challenges, and intervention effectivenessParticipate in MTSS meetings and contribute data-based insights and recommendationsCoordinate with LA mentors to align interventions with core instruction and curricular goalsAttend weekly LA team L10 coordination meetings3) Track, document, and analyze student progressMaintain accurate records of intervention sessions, attendance, and student performanceCollect and analyze literacy data to monitor growth and inform instructional decisionsPrepare progress notes and reports for MTSS documentation and team reviewAssist with authorizer site review evidence collection4) Provide language arts support in the drop-in tutoring labAttend scheduled tutoring lab hours to provide supplemental literacy support to studentsAssist students with reading assignments, writing tasks, and skill reinforcement aligned to MTSS goalsCollaborate with tutors and MTSS team members to ensure consistency of instructional strategies and supportsObserve and note patterns in student needs to inform intervention planning and progress monitoring5) Foster a positive, supportive learning environmentCreate and maintain a safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment in small-group or individual settingsActively encourage, motivate, and engage students to build confidence and perseverance in literacy skillsSupport positive student behavior and promote effective reading, writing, and study strategiesNon-Essential DutiesPlease note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of the activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time, with or without notice.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in English, Education, Literacy, or a closely related fieldDemonstrated knowledge of language arts instruction, including reading comprehension, writing development, grammar, and vocabularyExperience delivering literacy intervention within an MTSS framework or comparable data-driven model, including progress monitoring and instructional adjustmentsProven experience working with educational staff, students, and familiesDemonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound judgmentAbility to manage multiple students and instructional priorities simultaneouslyAbility to support diverse learners with varying literacy needsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsExperience with digital learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Google Workspace, and literacy intervention tools)Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationshipsStrong organizational and data-tracking skillsWorking ConditionsRemote work environmentExpected working hours include attendance in the tutoring lab Monday–Thursday from 1:30–3:30 p.m. MT and Friday from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. MT.
