Job Summary As a Licensed Vocational Nurse - PRN NIGHTS, you will play a vital role in our nursing team, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include assessing patient conditions, administering medications, and performing various therapeutic procedures. Key Responsibilities Assumes responsibility for the care of assigned patients on designated shifts, working closely with the RN and other healthcare team members. Administers oral and IV medications as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation and timely reporting of patient responses. Performs vital sign assessments, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Provides ostomy care, wound care, and dressing changes as needed. Monitors patients for changes in medical condition, notifying the physician and RN as appropriate. Collects and documents patient data, including intake and output, and reports any concerns to the RN. Assists with discharge planning, patient education, and community resource referrals. Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the medical record. Requirements and Qualifications Education and Training: Holds current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of Texas. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Experience: At least one year of inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience is preferred but not required. Experience in long-term acute care or rehabilitation settings is beneficial. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patient assignments. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing patient needs and priorities. Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care, with a focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in emergency or critical care environments. Higher comfort level working with ventilators, tracheostomies, PICC lines, and other advanced medical equipment. Two or more years of experience in direct patient care.
