Edsel Engineering is a small (5 current team members), growing civil engineering firm based near Asheville, North Carolina. We focus on land development, site design, and stormwater engineering throughout Western North Carolina. Our size allows us to offer meaningful project ownership, flexibility, and direct collaboration with leadership.

Position Summary

Edsel Engineering is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to serve as a Project Manager for land development projects from concept through completion. This role blends technical design, client interaction, regulatory coordination, and team leadership. You will manage projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure high‑quality deliverables.

This position is open to licensed Professional Engineers (PEs).
Highly experienced EITs or unlicensed engineers may also be considered.

Compensations is based on experience.

This role is entirely remote, with the option to work part‑time or full‑time. We offer generous flexibility so you can build a schedule that supports your work–life balance.

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as Project Manager and Engineer‑of‑Record for land development projects
• Oversee project quality, efficiency, and compliance with engineering standards and company procedures
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Coordinate with local and state regulatory agencies
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables
• Mentor Assistant Project Managers and technical staff
• Prepare and review plans, reports, permits, and construction documents
• Attend or lead meetings with clients, municipalities, boards, and agencies
• Perform site design in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including:
• Subdivision layout and grading
• Erosion control design
• Water, sewer, and stormwater systems
• Stormwater management and final plats
• Coordinate permitting with outside agencies
• Support construction administration and inspections as needed

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (preferred ABET‑accredited)
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience with land development, site design, or stormwater engineering

Preferred Qualifications
• Active North Carolina PE license (strongly preferred)
• Experience with Buncombe County or City of Asheville stormwater requirements
• Familiarity with HydraFlow, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, and Excel
• Project management, construction administration, or inspection experience
• Client‑facing consulting experience

Schedule
• Full‑time or part‑time available
• Standard hours (if full‑time):
• Mon–Thu: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
• Fri: 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM
