Legal Engineer - AI for Litigation, Investigations & Corporate Legal Location: Hybrid, NYC (4 days onsite) Team: Advanced AI Platform / AI Labs Type: Full-Time A fast-moving AI team is building next-generation systems for litigation, investigations, compliance, and corporate legal work-and is looking for a Legal Engineer who blends real legal experience with strong technical instincts. This role sits at the intersection of law, product, AI research, and user experience. What You'll Do • Shape legal datasets representing litigation, investigations, compliance, privilege review, ECA, and corporate workflows. • Define product capabilities by translating authentic legal processes into structured workflows, task specs, and agentic patterns for AI systems. • Work directly with clients to explain capabilities, gather feedback, and help position the platform to in-house legal teams and law firms. • Prototype and build using LLMs, scripting, and rapid experimentation to turn ideas into functional demos or workflows. • Execute quickly in a fast-paced environment with high ownership and tight iteration cycles. What We're Looking For Required • JD + active/prior bar membership. • 2-8+ years in litigation, investigations, regulatory/compliance, e-discovery, or adjacent corporate legal work. • Hands-on experience with real workflows: privilege review, depositions, factual development, custodian interviews, matter management, etc. Technical / Product Orientation • Fluent working with engineers and product teams. • Ability to prompt LLMs, analyze outputs, use AI tools, or write light scripts. • Strong intuition for mapping legal reasoning ? data, rules, workflows, and model behaviors. Mindset • Builder/hacker mentality; creative but rigorous. • High execution, comfortable with ambiguity, iteration, and rapid experimentation. • Motivated to help invent the next generation of legal AI-not just use it. Nice to Have • Experience with e-discovery platforms or investigative workflows. • Exposure to ML/AI concepts, synthetic data, or structured knowledge systems. • Background in legal tech, product, innovation, or R&D-style roles.
