Location NorthwestPosition SummaryPosition Summary:The Lecturer position is a 10-month faculty position in the Department of Health Information Management in the College of Health and Human Services at Indiana University Northwest. The Lecturer role is a non-tenure-track faculty position expected to maintain service responsibilities at the department, division, campus, and/or community levels. The College of Health and Human Services employs the Teacher-Scholar model, placing equal emphasis on teaching and research that is either applied, basic, or pedagogic.Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities include a 12-hour per semester teaching load.
Teach coursework to include didactic and/or laboratory components of the curriculum.
Develop instructional materials to include course plans, learning outcomes, and assessments.
Assess course effectiveness through student evaluations, individual assessments, and end-of-course grades.
Ensure clinical schedules for professional practice experiences are completed for all HIA and HIT program students (as applicable).
Promote maintenance of CAHIIM accreditation standards and ensure compliance with AHIMA curriculum competencies.
Reporting Lines: Incumbent will report to the Director of Health Information ManagementABOUT INDIANA UNIVERSITY NORTHWESTOne of seven campuses of Indiana University, IU Northwest is located in metropolitan Northwest Indiana, approximately 30 miles southeast of Chicago and 10 miles from the Indiana Dunes National Park. Registered Health Information Administration certification.
Master's Degree in Health Information, Informatics, Education, or other related areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years or more of HIM-related clinical experience.
One (1) year or more of university-level teaching experience.
Demonstrated knowledge or additional professional credentials in one or more areas of health information subjects included in the program curriculum.
Membership and engagement in academic and/or professional associations related to the discipline of health information.
Demonstrated excellence in online teaching.
Demonstrated skills in curriculum development.
Demonstrated skills in academic program monitoring and evaluation.
Demonstrated experience teaching and working with a diverse population.
