Role: As Lead Software Engineer - Apps, you’ll shape the architecture, technology, and practices behind the next generation of applications at Acquisition.com . You’ll own critical parts of the stack and work closely with business leaders to deliver systems that fuel our growth. In our lean, high-performing team, your work will have a company-wide impact. We’re looking for someone eager to push boundaries - automating inefficiencies, leveraging modern frameworks, cloud-native architectures, and AI. You’ll mentor engineers, raise code quality, and help build a culture of innovation and technical excellence. Must live in one of the states we’re registered to operate in: CA, FL, GA, IN, MI, MN, NV, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, WI. Responsibilities: Build core features hands-on with React/Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js. Hands-on design and development of scalable, secure, high-performance systems. Bridge business and engineering, turning requirements into impactful, scalable solutions. Ship clean, well-tested code while driving reviews, documentation, and best practices. Automate workflows and eliminate technical debt to boost developer velocity. Mentor engineers and set the technical bar for the team. Leverage emerging tools, including AI/ML, to deliver real product impact. Requirements: 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ in senior or lead roles. Expert in backend microservices and system architecture, with strong skills in APIs, databases, and Next.js. Proven track record building secure, scalable, and reliable full-stack systems. Skilled in agent-driven development with tools such as Cursor and Claude Code. Familiar with AI/ML concepts and able to apply them to real product impact. Hands-on with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling. Consistently ship reliable code, set engineering standards, and grow the team’s technical capabilities. Results: Deliver production-ready applications that power Acquisition.com ’s growth. Build scalable systems and APIs without sacrificing reliability or performance. Create responsive, accessible React/Next.js interfaces with great usability. Uphold engineering excellence through clean code, testing, and CI/CD. Mentor engineers and foster a culture of growth and technical excellence. Automate inefficiencies to cut debt and speed feature delivery. Integrate AI models that enhance product capabilities and decision-making. Schedule: Work hours aligned with local timezone or Pacific timezone 8a-5p M-F Flexible to travel to Vegas on demand (~1-4 times a year) Must be flexible and able to work additional hours/weekends before workshop events/holidays if the situation warrants it Location: Remote, USA Must live in one of the states we’re registered to operate in: CA, FL, GA, IN, MI, MN, NV, OH, OR, PA, TN, TX, UT, WI. Compensation: $185,250 - $209,000 base salary The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below).
