Lead Instructor - Paramedic

Summary The Paramedic Lead Instructor educates, trains, and professionally develops students in all Paramedic courses. Lead instructors are responsible for preparing the EMS student for the field. Instructional activities include delivering scheduled lectures, labs, clinical performance, and coaching assignments, as well as student progress assessment, grading, and testing. Lead instructors are tasked with student success and NREMT-P pass rates. Lead Instructors are required to have intermediate to advanced field experience and obtain and apply knowledge of Barry EMS student handbook program policies, classroom operation, and learning management software (LMS) operation. Lead Instructors are accountable for interacting with Adjunct instructors when being relieved of instruction, such as lecture and lab, and other pass down teaching assignments. All Barry EMS (EMT and Paramedic) Instructors must be well versed in the delivery of content in full accordance with the NATIONAL STANDARDS EMT and Paramedic Scope of Practice and advanced patient assessment and treatment modalities with the end goal of properly preparing students for NREMT licensure examinations. Essential Functions Lead Paramedic instructors will: • Evaluate students on a schedule as directed by the Program Director via the EMS Programs Coordinator. • Provide cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and summative evaluations as directed. • Take and document corrective action with students as necessary. • Maintain records and execute student coaching and counseling forms for attendance, policy or test • failures. Maintain records of verbal and written counseling. • Follow the syllabus and training plans as laid out by the Training Coordinator and Coordinator Staff, and Medical Director. • Maintain current the EMS Program LMS platform in conjunction with the Training Coordinator. • Complete program and CoAEMSP required student evaluations in a timely manner. • Ensure all class and lab space is always properly policed, keeping areas and equipment neat, clean, • and in full working order. • Teach for the entire duration of the class period, maximizing the instruction within available class • time. • Follow all rules, regulations, policies, etc. set forth by the Director and Coordinator staff. • Adhere to 64-J Bureau of EMS Florida Administration Codes. Qualifications/Requirements • Vocational/technical training in the field of Firefighter, Paramedic. An Associate's degree is preferred. • 2-5 years of proven experience. • Must have the ability to comprehend and deliver advanced life support curricula in the classroom, clinical, and lab environments. Basic Intermediate Advanced • Participate in staff meetings and continuing education training when deemed necessary. Basic Intermediate Advanced • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Canvas and become familiar with JBL Learning and FISDAP student skill tracking software. • Must have working knowledge of advanced EMS equipment and training simulation mannequins and EMS training equipment.
