About the Role

As a Lead Big Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be at the forefront of our data engineering initiatives, responsible for developing high-performance, distributed computing solutions that process enormous volumes of data in real-time. You'll work alongside talented data scientists, analysts, and engineers to build the algorithms and platforms that drive critical business decisions across marketing, supply chain optimization, enterprise security, and personalized customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities


Architect and develop high-performance distributed computing systems using Big Data technologies including Hadoop, NoSQL databases, text mining frameworks, and other distributed environment technologies
Design, program, debug, and modify software developments and new products used in distributed, large-scale analysis solutions
Define software architecture to ensure that all solutions are built within a consistent, scalable framework
Participate in architectural decision-making processes related to the selection of optimal software solutions
Implement models to manage web-scale data and its organization efficiently
Develop strategies that inform data design and architecture in alignment with enterprise standards
Create and maintain documentation that ensures consistency in development practices across the organization
Implement and improve core programming infrastructure to support enterprise-wide data operations
Develop interactive dashboards, reports, and analysis templates that provide valuable business insights
Implement and enforce platforms that provide ad-hoc access to large datasets for business users
Translate key requirements into effective solutions that meet business objectives
Provide consultation on complex projects and technical challenges
Review and approve specifications to ensure consistency in approach and usage
Act as a technical and business resource for software teams on a range of design issues
Perform systems and applications performance characterization and compromise studies through analysis and simulation
Research and implement improvements in coding standards and best practices


Essential Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Broad understanding of software development principles and design patterns
Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, Scala, or Python
Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Druid, and related distributed computing frameworks
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams and partners to improve the overall operational maturity of Big Data ecosystems
Extensive experience with operational aspects of complete Big Data platforms including:

Monitoring and alert management
System availability and uptime optimization
Capacity management and planning
Service management and incident response


Strong collaborative skills with the ability to partner and work effectively with global teams
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
Strong communication skills to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders


Preferred Qualifications


Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
Experience with cloud-based Big Data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and AI/ML operations
Experience with real-time streaming data processing (Kafka, Flink, or similar technologies)
Background in retail or e-commerce data platforms
Experience with data governance and compliance frameworks
Previous leadership or mentoring experience in data engineering teams
