About the position The Lead Analyst, Medical Cost Analytics / Utilization Management role at CVS Health is focused on leveraging analytics to drive strategic decisions and cost savings in healthcare. This position involves acting as a product owner for multiple analytics initiatives, evaluating trends, and collaborating with business partners to develop data-driven solutions that enhance healthcare delivery. The role requires a deep understanding of business strategy and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership. Responsibilities • Consulting on the creation of analytics solutions that effectively weigh business and technical tradeoffs using an advanced understanding of business strategy. • Acting as an analytics product owner translating business needs into analytics projects and actions. • Collaborating with business partners to understand their problems and goals, performing statistical analysis, developing data reports and performance metrics. • Consulting with internal clients to identify opportunities to implement data science solutions to business problems at an advanced level. • Structuring data analysis, driving analytics insights and analytical solutions to help data scientists determine the best analytical solution. • Understanding key drivers of business value and translating them into business opportunities framed as analytical problems. • Translating business problems into analytical solutions by knowing appropriate models to suggest to data scientists. • Understanding and recommending modeling techniques to data scientists. • Presenting recommendations to senior staff and internal clients. • Mentoring more junior team members. • Sharing insights across teams. • Autonomously leading the business partner relationship. • Leading development of solutions with high complexity and risk. Requirements • 7+ years' leading analytics initiatives with a track record of business impact • 5+ years' experience using SQL to extract, manipulate and analyze large datasets • 4+ years experience working in Healthcare industry, with Healthcare data • 4+ years' experience in strategic consulting or on strategy teams in a large company, providing actionable insights and recommendations to senior leaders and stakeholders • 3+ years' experience identifying trends and opportunities for cost savings initiatives and evaluating the effectiveness of programs • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data and findings to a variety of stakeholders • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously • Collaborative with a growth mindset and excellent interpersonal skills • Knowledge of healthcare industry trends and regulatory changes • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Excel and PowerPoint. Nice-to-haves • Proficiency in most areas of mathematical analysis methods, machine learning, statistical analyses, and predictive modeling and in-depth specialization in some areas.
