Fuse is on a mission to accelerate the world’s transition to fusion energy. Our core product is TITAN: an Impedance Matched Marx Generator (IMG). TITAN is the most efficient and powerful (TW) machine of its kind. Fusers have built and licensed Magical Unicorn and FAETON I, 2 novel pulsed power generators.You are joining an early-stage fusion company. Please expect to wear different hats and take 0 to 1 ownership of objectives. This is not a regular job. Fusers are on a mission to change the world.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s/ Master's/ PHD degree in optics, optoelectronics, laser physics, electrical engineering, photonics or a related field2+ years’ experience in High Energy Laser design, analysis, and testing2+ years’ experience with laser amplification techniques2+ years’ experience with laser modeling and simulation software and other design and simulation Strong communication and problem-solving skillsWillingness to travel to Montreal occasionallyKey ResponsibilitiesDesigning and developing laser systems that generate short-duration, high-energy pulses of light.Developing and testing laser components, including the laser cavity, mirrors, and amplifiers, to ensure that they can withstand high-energy pulsesCollaborating with optical, electrical, and mechanical engineers, to integrate laser systems with other components of a larger systemConducting research and development activities to explore new technologies and techniques for improving high-energy laser systemsPlanning and overseeing the manufacturing, installation, and operation of laser systemsDeveloping and implementing quality control procedures to ensure that products meet industry standards and MagLIF requirementsPerforming cost analysis and creating project timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budgetWriting technical reports and giving presentations to communicate design concepts, testing results, and project progress to stakeholders (external and/or internal)Additional requirementsMust be able to travel and work extended hours/weekends as needed.ITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
