Position: Lactation Technician – Part-Time
Key Responsibilities:
Provide breastfeeding support and counseling to mothers and infants in WIC clinics and local hospitals
Conduct breastfeeding clinical instruction and counseling sessions with mothers and infants
Monitor and evaluate breastfeeding mothers and infants to ensure effective breastfeeding practices
Provide education on dietary and lifestyle changes that support the nutritional needs of nursing mothers and breastfeeding infants
Maintain accurate records of breastfeeding support and counseling sessions
Collaborate with Registered Dieticians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
Associate degree from an accredited college or university
Experience:
Two years of experience providing breastfeeding instructions to mothers and their infants in clinics or hospitals
Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:
Current certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant Examiners
Copy of applicant’s current certification must accompany application

Skills and Competencies:
Knowledge of current principles, techniques, and practices of breastfeeding counseling and lactation support
Skill in breastfeeding clinical instruction and counseling
Skill in interviewing techniques
Ability to monitor and evaluate breastfeeding mothers and infants
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
