Juniper Engineer (Night shift)
Job Title: Juniper Network Engineer (x2)
Location: Remote -Night Shift (Mon Thurs)
Duration: 6+ months
Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced Juniper Network Migration Engineers to support a large-scale network migration for a large high end retail establishment. The ideal candidates will have strong expertise in Juniper JunOS switching and the ability to lead remote cutover operations .This is a fully remote position requiring night shift work.
The successful candidate will:
Ā Work primarily night shifts (Monday-Thursday) to perform cutovers
Ā Be available for 1-2 hours during regular business hours for meetings and updates
Ā Collaborate closely with on-site technicians and project team members
Ā Adapt to a fast-paced environment with evolving project requirements
Ā Be comfortable with independent work and remote communication
Ā Note: Holiday weeks may have reduced workload, and holiday pay is not currently included
Key Responsibilities:
Ā Execute network migrations from Cisco... to Juniper platforms
Ā Perform after-hours cutovers, primarily Monday through Thursday nights
Ā Collaborate with and direct on-site resources during cutover operations
Ā Troubleshoot layer 1 and layer 2 network issues
Ā Make necessary Clear Pass changes during migrations
Ā Conduct DNS updates as required
Ā Load and replace Juniper configurations
Ā Participate in daytime meetings for process updates and project coordination
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Ā 3- 5 years of experience with Juniper JunOS switching (core requirement)
Ā Proficiency in troubleshooting Juniper interfaces and logs
Ā Experience in converting Cisco configurations to Juniper
Ā Strong layer 2 and layer 1 troubleshooting skills
Ā Familiarity with Clear Pass or similar network access control systems
Ā Basic Linux skills
Ā Command line interface (CLI) navigation and file management
Ā Understanding of basic Linux commands (e.g., ls, cd, grep, cat, chmod)
Ā Ability to edit text files using command-line editors like vim or nano
Ā Basic shell scripting for automation of simple tasks
Ā Understanding of file permissions and user management
Ā Familiarity with package management systems (e.g., apt, yum)
Ā Basic networking commands (e.g., ifconfig, ping, traceroute)
Ā Ability to view and analyze log files
Ā Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration
Ā Experience directing on site team members, remotely
Ā Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a flexible schedule
Preferred Qualifications:
Ā Experience with large-scale network migrations
Ā Familiarity with retail network environments
Ā Knowledge of Versa SD-WAN solutions
