As a Junior Wetlands Specialist, you will contribute to environmental planning and permitting efforts for infrastructure projects, support field data collection, and assist with technical reports and regulatory applications.ResponsibilitiesContribute to the environmental planning and permitting efforts of government and privately-owned infrastructure projectsSupport projects through field data collection effortsAssist with the development of technical reports, review of field data, data management and regulatory applications as neededSkillsDiploma, B.Sc., or M.Sc. in biology, related to ecology, hydrology, wetlands, botany, or equivalent demonstrated experienceAt least 1-3 years of relevant field experience in environmental consulting or equivalentProven field skills and willingness to work in the field in remote locations for extended periods of time if requiredExperience in satellite and aerial imagery interpretation, classification, and delineation of wetlands in the field in AlbertaSkills in identifying wetland vegetation, hydrological indicators, and hydric soilsA driver's license and a clean driver's abstractExperience using the ArcGIS platform, in the desktop (ArcGIS Pro), web-browser, and mobile (Field Maps and Survey123) environmentsExperience viewing and/or collecting field data using a mobile app (ex Esri Field Maps or Survey 123)Experience or interest in supporting other biophysical study areas such as reclamation, vegetation, wildlife, soils, and/or fisheries field assessmentsBiologist-in-Training designationExperience classifying and delineating wetlands in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and/or British ColumbiaBenefitsHybrid working policyCompany OverviewJacobs leads the global professional services sector delivering solutions for a more connected, sustainable world.
