Junior Financial Accountant
Plenary Americas is a leading specialized developer of long-term Public-Private Partnership projects. They are seeking a detail-oriented and resourceful Junior Financial Accountant to gain hands-on experience in project accounting, financial reporting, and stakeholder collaboration within a dynamic environment.ResponsibilitiesPartner with Senior Accountants, Finance Managers, Senior Management and Asset Delivery to support financial reporting for project companiesBe responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (IFRS and GAAP)Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor project cash flows including preparing monthly journal entriesHelp respond to financial queries from internal and external stakeholders, with increasing exposure to key equity and business partners over time, including opportunities to eventually contribute to board-level meetings/presentationsAssist in preparation of GST returns and other regulatory reports and returnsPrepare and file government regulatory reports and remittances as requiredPrepare various management reports and complete project reporting obligationsMaintain and update accounting policies, procedures and documentationSupport process improvements and help identify opportunities to streamline workflowsProvide support to the broader finance team on other areas as required including but not limited to ad hoc initiatives and special projectsExposure/involvement with financial statements is preferred but not requiredSkillsPost-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field1-2 years of experience in an Accounting or Finance role (co-op experience included)Working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft OfficeFamiliarity with accounting systems (experience with MS Dynamics GP is an asset)Interest and ability to understand legal and financial contracts/agreementsStrong attention to detail and a willingness to learnStrong work ethic and high level of personal and professional integrityExposure/involvement with financial statements is preferred but not requiredExperience in construction or project-based environments is an assetBenefitsComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision) and RRSP employer contribution.Four weeks vacation.A collaborative and collegial culture, with diverse work, autonomy, and opportunities to learn and grow.Long-term development opportunities within an exciting and growing industry.Social perks include monthly birthday celebrations, team events and an offsite.Company OverviewPlenary Americas has become North America's leading specialized developer of long-term partnership projects, with a project portfolio of USD$17 billion across both the United States and Canada, including 55 projects in the health, transportation, defence, justice, education, energy and government accommodation sectors.
