Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Junior CAD Designer to join our team on a part-time contract basis. This role is primarily focused on creating and modifying construction drawings using CAD software. You will work directly with blueprints, sketches, markups, and project specifications to produce accurate architectural, structural, and MEP drawings for commercial and residential construction projects.

This position will report to and work under the Design Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their construction or design career who is eager to build expertise in CAD drafting. Junior CAD designers who consistently deliver results and meet expectations will have an opportunity for a full-time CAD Designer position within 6–12 months, with increased responsibility, competitive salary, and full benefits.

Key Responsibilities
β€’ Create and revise 2D construction drawings (architectural, structural, civil, and MEP) using AutoCAD and other CAD tools.
β€’ Convert sketches, redlines, and field notes into accurate as-built and design drawings.
β€’ Support the estimating team by preparing quantity takeoff drawings and updating plans based on design changes.
β€’ Maintain organized drawing files, revisions, and documentation using cloud-based project management systems.
β€’ Collaborate with the Design Manager, project managers, senior designers, and estimators via video calls and shared platforms.
β€’ Participate in internal training on advanced CAD techniques, construction standards, and estimating workflows.
β€’ Meet project or production targets and deadlines in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Required Qualifications
β€’ Familiarity with the construction industry (coursework, internship, entry-level field experience, or personal project exposure is acceptable).
β€’ Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints (architectural, structural, and trade drawings).
β€’ Proficiency with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software such as DraftSight or BricsCAD).
β€’ Strong understanding of materials and methods for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
β€’ High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
β€’ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
β€’ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
β€’ Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
β€’ Reliable high-speed internet and a quiet workspace.

What We Offer
β€’ Competitive hourly contract rate (commensurate with experience).
β€’ Flexible remote schedule – work when you’re most productive.
β€’ Direct mentorship and training sessions from the Design Manager and senior team members.
β€’ Clear path to a full-time CAD Designer role within 6–12 months for top performers.
β€’ Opportunity to work on diverse, high-quality construction projects.
β€’ Modern cloud-based tools and software licenses provided.

This is a career-building role for someone who is passionate about the construction industry and ready to grow quickly within a supportive, results-driven team.
