Junior Analyst

They are seeking a Junior Analyst to provide critical analysis and interpretation of enrolment data for strategic and operational planning within the Office of the Registrar.ResponsibilitiesCarefully read, study, and understand the U of A’s Integrated Enrolment Growth Plan and related material and productsConduct course-level demand analysis for various faculties, and develop scripts to automate the processSupport the development, building, implementation, maintenance and refinement of predictive analytics models, topics include but may not be limited to: yielding probability, retention factors, enrolment headcounts, etcProvide support to other team functions, topics include but may not be limited to: data requests, enrolment reporting, SQL queries, market scans, qualitative studies, etcCreates detailed reports, visualizations, and dashboards using tools like Tableau and prepares and delivers presentations to stakeholders on data-related topicsConduct consultations to gather insight on the needs of the RO and University community and ensure that the studies and reports meet those needsEngage internal staff in understanding the value contained within the University’s dataCollaborating with team members, other units at the Office of the Registrar, and key stakeholders to understand business contexts, which are critical to deliver high-quality data and analytical productsKeep current on the methods and tools available within and external to our Enrolment Management and Reporting systems and recommend appropriate approaches and toolsSkillsUndergraduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Sciences, or a related field with a strong focus on quantitative skillsTrackable experience in completing quantitative data/research projects in either a professional or academic environmentExpertise in using statistical software such as Python, R, SAS, Tableau, SQL, etcSuperior ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and be able to communicate complex data concepts through plain languageStrong ability to analyze data, suggest recommendations, and present resultsExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent time management in balancing demands in a way that will ensure access to critical data, reports, and/or analysis within strategic time limitsCompany OverviewThe University of Alberta is a public research university offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
