Qualifications: * Must have at least 60 semester hours of college credit or pass approved paraprofessional test. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must demonstrate a patient and receptive attitude toward children with special needs. Must demonstrate a professional attitude about the position. Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding students? academic and social/behavioral performance. Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively as a member of the team. Must be able to effectively and tactfully present information in one-on-one small group situations to staff, parents, students, and administrators. Must be able to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Must be able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Duties & Responsibilities: * Will carry out written and/or verbal instructional plans provided by the certified teacher. Will assist with academic and learning activities through tutoring, note taking, modeling, mentoring, duplicating, grading, constructing materials, and general clerical work. Will assist with control of students through interaction and supervision as directed by the certified teacher. Will assist with non-instructional activities. This may include providing daily and emergency personal care needs of students: wheel chair movement and positioning, toileting, feeding, and other activities as appropriate. Will carry out other assigned duties and responsibilities appropriate to the position.
