We are seeking a dedicated and passionate HCCHS Instructional Assistant II - FMD to join our team at Hopkins County Central High School. As an Instructional Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting our certified teachers and students, providing individualized instruction and guidance to ensure academic success. About the Role:
As an HCCHS Instructional Assistant II - FMD, you will assist our certified teachers in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students, typically in programs with exceptional children or equivalent programs. You will monitor and report student progress, participate in instructional teams, and develop relationships with parents and team members. Your responsibilities will include:
Tutoring individuals or small groups of students, reinforcing and implementing instruction as directed by the teacher
Maintaining records of student progress and participating in instructional teams
Assisting in preparing lessons, administering tests, and scoring student work
Providing support to the teacher, including setting up work areas, operating audio-visual equipment, and distributing materials
Assisting students with physical tasks, such as putting on and taking off outerwear, and providing emotional support and guidance
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A high school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law
Passing score on the Para Educator test in accordance with state regulations or 48 accredited college hours
One year of experience working with children in an organized setting
Basic knowledge of subjects taught in District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language, and reading
Interpersonal skills, including tact, patience, and courtesy
Ability to learn child guidance principles and practices, communicate effectively, and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public
