Job Summary
The Activity Instructor (Dance/Step) will be responsible for teaching dance classes to participants, developing and implementing lesson plans, and creating a fun and engaging learning environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching dance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with young people from diverse backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
Teach dance classes to participants, following a prescribed curriculum
Develop and implement lesson plans that incorporate literacy, history, and other academic subjects
Plan and implement culminating events or projects at the end of each cycle
Delegate roles and expectations to group leaders and program aides during class time
Attend staff meetings and staff development training sessions
Guide program participants in examining choices, following directions, and becoming involved in program activities
Requirements
High School Diploma required; BA preferred
Professional experience in teaching dance required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to engage young people and set structure and limits in a group setting
Commitment to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective
